The Embodiment of God’s Wisdom
Christ Jesus
by Brenda D. Flowers
But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the LORD.” (1 Corinthians 1: 30-31, NKJV)
Have you ever had times, like I have, when you cried out to God for wisdom?
Maybe you were dealing with circumstances that caused you to feel totally out of control.
I have experienced times like this inmy life. In looking back, I see how God helped me to get through those times, as I released control to Him.
God sent His Son, Jesus, to save you and me, but do we fully realize He also sent Jesus to show us wisdom?
Read again Paul’s full letter to the Corinthian Church. Under the inspiration of Holy Spirit, his letter is written “To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 1:2-3 NKJV) These words are for all of us who proclaim to be followers of Christ.
Notice Paul’s words regarding God’s wisdom as compared to the wisdom of the world:
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God, For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” (1 Corinthians 1: 18-19, NKJV)
God inspired Paul to write these important words on wisdom to all who profess to be in Christ.
Paul’s letter was written to people like us. They were being challenged to live faithful lives while being immersed in a very dark pagan culture.
How were they and how are we to make wise decisions?
I believe God wants to show us His wisdom and counsel through Jesus more and more each day as we spend time with Him.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1: 14, NKJV)
As we spend intimate time with God in conversation (speaking and listening to Him in prayer)
and as we read the Bible, being aware of God’s counsel, we can grow in wisdom.
Praise the Lord for His promised wisdom in our time of need when we faithfully trust Him!
Prayer: Lord, please give us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You, and may the eyes of our understanding be enlightened; that we may know the hope of Your calling, what are the riches of the glory of Your inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of your power towards us who believe. (Ephesians 1:17b-19a)
Amen!
