The LORD as Strong Tower

Proverbs 18:10 Amplified Bible The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
The righteous runs to it and is safe and set on high (far above evil).

Set earthly thoughts aside and think about a place of safety, protection, refuge, security and being set on high far above evil. Seek and find the Lord and know that we have this place in Him as a Strong Tower.

How can we experience this place in the Lord, our God?

Perhaps you have made this discovery and can contribute to what I have found.

1. Know God  

Daniel 11:32b comes to mind from the NASB, “but the people who know their God will be strong and take action.” It is God who loved us so much that He sent His only begotten Son that if we believe in Him we will not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). I think of John 17:3 NASB And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. To know God we must be born again of the Spirit (John 3:5).

2. Know God’s Word

God calls me to focus on Him and His Word and let one Scripture build on another. It is vitally important not only to know God but to know His Word. It is an amazing discovery to know Jesus Christ is the Word, John 1:3-5;14. As we read the written word of God, He blesses us with revelation and understanding to see Jesus from Genesis through Revelation. I exclaim as Thomas did, “My Lord and my God!”
(John 20:28)

3. Know the Biblical names of God

There are many names of God in the Bible, many books and articles were written on the names of God as well as many Bible studies and sermons. My heart was greatly impacted writing this devotional  discovering the name of the LORD as a strong tower.

“One of the greatest defenses that we have in this world to help us fight against the vices of Satan, is the name of the Lord. Once we begin to gain an understanding of this important  aspect of the Christian life, we will then begin to grasp the absolute security that we have in Him.”

 I totally agree with Michael Jakes for I have learned and experienced this important aspect in my Christian life.
