Highway of Holiness

Is. 35:8a NKJV  A highway shall be there, and a road, and it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.

The highway of holiness is not a road to travel on but is a way of life. Jesus said to him(Thomas, one of His disciples), “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me, John 14:6.
God disciplines and trains us to share in His holiness, Heb. 12:10. We have a choice to follow the Lord or to go our own way.

In Is. 35, we read of the future glory of Zion. We have so much to look forward to when we choose to follow Jesus Christ as our Lord and our God. Let us choose to be holy, that is set apart for the Lord’s purpose. Let us choose to be pure and unstained by the world. We have the privilege now to taste God’s glory.

Zion is the city of God, Heb. 12:22 NKJV and is also called, the city of David, 1 Kings 8:1. We read about the New Jerusalem, a new heaven and new earth, a time when all things are made new, Rev. 21:1-5.

Until then, let us choose a life of holiness to the Lord and be blessed to walk on the highway of holiness, living a righteous life, pleasing the Lord.

Take time to consider some factors of what this future glory of Zion entails according to Is. 35 NKJV:
…..the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose…………even with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon shall be given it, the excellence of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the glory of the LORD, the excellency of our God.
Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees.
Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear!
…your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God; He will come and save you.”
…the eyes of the blind shall be open, the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
…the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing,
…waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.
The parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water;
A highway shall be there…..called the Highway of Holiness.
The unclean shall not pass over it, but it shall be for others.
Whoever walks the road, although a fool, shall not go astray.
No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beasts go up on it;…….
the redeemed shall walk there, and the ransomed of the LORD shall return,
and come to Zion with singing, with everlasting joy on their heads.
They shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Lord, help us follow You and walk in Your ways until You come. Amen.
