O To Trust You More

O To Trust You More
by Kathleen Shore

“Come and rest here…” I heard Father whisper to my spirit. And at the sound of His voice, I was awakened to the clutter that was weighing down my soul. This clutter was holding me back from entering into the place of rest Father paved for me to dwell and the power of all Jesus poured out on the cross. This clutter was taking up His space.

Truly, His loving-kindness brought light to these things I needed to let go of and leave at the foot of the cross (or the throne room door) if I wanted to enter into Him, into His powerful rest.

It was as though He Son-kissed me with desire.

This desire for Him, this hunger, like a thirst…what a curious thing. In one moment, I wasn’t even able to identify I had a need, much less free myself from the clutter of self-will in my circumstance. The next moment, at the sound of His voice, I was given a deposit of desire! The desire to respond to His light shed upon me. All of my anxious thoughts I called ‘prayer’; all of my ‘leaning on my own understanding’; my constant state of busyness to mask my impatience toward the unanswered prayers. All of it fell to the ground as I turned my attention to Him and responded to His faithful love.

God IS rest… Born of God, we were created to live and dwell in Him, our perfect rest. This is God’s presence, The Secret Place, The Holy of Holies. Our soul was made to choose Him over the hurry, anxious, fearful, and unrest offered to us within our earthly circumstances. It is in choosing Him and trusting in His faithful love that we find our rest. Only then is He given His rightful place to set Himself down in us and be the fullness of all that is already ours. The power and authority to overcome is found in the surrender and trust of our heavenly Father.

Jesus, in His suffering gave us the gift of not only what it looks like to surrender and trust, but also the gift of His power and resurrection life when we surrender and trust in Him.

Oh, His great love of us… Would you confess to Him now, that He is enough? Would you let Him be?

Let us taste and see how sweet it is to trust in Jesus, just to take Him at His word, just to rest upon His promise, just to know, “This is what the Lord says!”

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
