Faithful Prayers

Matt.6:6 ESV But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
The key to faithful prayers is the simplicity and depth to look to the Lord to teach us to pray by the Holy Spirit.
We are instructed to pray in the Lord’s Prayer in Matt.6:10 ESV Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
A faithful prayer is one based on faith in Jesus Christ and trusting Him to pray through us by His Spirit, giving us life.
Before I was born again, I practiced rote, memorized prayers. The Bible calls these prayers meaningless repetition. It was scripted words, some with portions from the Bible, some from a Prayer Book, with my desires and view points. I felt like my prayers in those days got no further than the ceiling.
Our prayers are for naught until we have a personal love relationship with Jesus Christ by His Spirit and ask, as we read in the Bible, in Luke 11:1, Lord, teach us to pray.
How is your prayer life?
Are your prayers reliant on God in heaven?
Are your prayers birthed from heaven to pierce through the darkness on earth?
Do you pray relying on Jesus Christ to lead you, to teach you, to instruct you how to pray?
Are you following Jesus in your prayer life?
In previous devotionals this year, we looked at our Faithful God, His Faithful Counsel, on being His Faithful Followers and other aspects. Each of these topics are important but our topic today is one that is dear to my heart on prayer.
We find many prayers through the Bible. The key is getting the words from our head to our heart. When God gives us a new Spirit and new heart, we receive life to live Christ day by day. He tells us to pray without ceasing, 1 Thess. 5:17. The Lord taught me that to pray without ceasing is like breathing. He spoke this to me while I was swimming laps in a swimming pool. He said as I practice breathing while swimming, it becomes easier, and so too with prayer.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, Thank You for teaching us to pray. Keep us close to You, alert in the Spirit with clean hands and pure hearts. Amen.
