Trust God for Truth
by Brenda D. Flowers
Jesus said to him, “I am the (only) Way (to God) and the (real) Truth and the (real) Life;
no one comes to the Father but through Me. John 14: 6 (AMP)
Truth is the opposite of deceit. It is absolute, not able to be changed. The actions that
happened if one could see the actions from every angle and describe the actions without error is truth. Words that come forth from a source that is fully trustworthy are
considered truth.
In a culture of no absolutes, no moral law giver, truth can be ignored or distorted.
Deception reigns.
When caring parents are raising their children, they expect their children to tell them
the truth when asked about actions they did or words they said. Common questions:
“Did you get a cookie out of the cookie jar?
Did you pick up your toys?
“Did you do what you said you would do?”
Innately, good parents usually know when their children are telling the truth.
Why do we, as parents, recognize the importance of truth and warn that there will be
consequences if our children don’t learn to tell the truth? Deep down, could it be that we have been given a moral compass to help us know what is truth?
What happens to people who repeatedly ignore the promptings to seek the real truth?
Do we allow our consciences to be ignored and our hearts to be hardened to the One who can guide us to truth?
There is only one Father, who knows the real truth. . . our Heavenly Father. Human
beings have a limited perspective. We know in part.
The original sin was man’s choice to believe a lie rather than truth, and to trust in self
over God, taking action against God’s will.
The redemptive storyline of the Bible is God loves you. He sent His Son for you. By
trusting in Jesus as Savior and Lord, God gives us His Spirit to live in us and guide us.
As we seek Him daily, He reveals truth to us through His Word.
Our Heavenly Father loves us so much, He warns us that there are consequences for not telling the truth. He knows children make mistakes, that is why He provided the graciousWay to Truth.
Prayer: Father, thank you for Your Spirit who will guide us to all truth. May we seek
Truth daily.
Jesus said, “But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor,-—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you: but if I go, I will send Him
(the Holy Spirit ) to you (to be in close fellowship with You). . .
. . . But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth (full and
complete Truth). For He will not speak on His own initiative, but He will speak whatever Hehears (from the Father—-the message regarding the Son), . . .”
John 16: 7 & 13 (AMP)
