“Thou Mine Inheritance”

“Thou Mine Inheritance”
by Judy Hitson

Lamentations 3:24 NLT I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”

Inheritance is the word I heard to write on for 2020 as I sought the Lord for a topic. I don’t know about your thoughts on this topic but to be honest when I thought of inheritance, I thought of land and possessions. Preparing to write, I anticipated what the Lord would teach me about inheritance. In the past when I wrote, the Lord prompted me to write testimonies of my experiences on each topic. With inheritance, I come to the Lord as a student. Perhaps it is a familiar topic to you from your life experiences or maybe not. In either case, join me on this adventure with the Lord to seek His perspective on inheritance.

I note here the importance of to hear God’s voice and stand on His promises like:
John 10:27 NKJV My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

“Thou mine inheritance” is a phrase from the hymn, “Be Thou My Vision.” Those three words came to mind with the lyrics and the tune in a time of prayer when I asked the Lord what He wanted to write through me. Those words captured my heart with amazement. The reality of the Lord being my inheritance brought new life in a profound way. Though I have known the Lord more than forty years at this writing, I confess not grasping the person of Jesus Christ as my inheritance. With this new revelation, I see my intimate love relationship with the Lord, my God, brings me to a new road of discovery.

First and foremost, see with me that the Lord is our inheritance and all else flows from that.

What more could we want?

What more could we ask for?

He is our all (see Col. 3:11).

He is enough.

With Him we have everything. All else is pale in comparison.

Looking in the Bible my heart leaped to find confirmation of this phrase, our key verse above, Lam.3:24 and Ps. 16:5 NLT  LORD, You alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine.

Prayer: Thank You Father in Jesus name for Your Spirit who gives us life. Thank You that we can hear Your voice and follow You on this adventure of what You want to reveal through Your word on inheritance. Amen.
