Meditate on Our Lovely Inheritance
by Brenda D. Flowers
…whatever things are lovely….
meditate on these things. (from Phil. 4:8, NKJV)
I am touched by how God speaks to me through His written Word…
Meditate on lovely things.
It is July 2020, a year of unprecedented challenges due to a continuing spread of COVID-19 and a growing civil unrest. As we face these times, many Christians are crying out for God’s intervention, His will and His guidance. For these things, I am petitioning Him daily in prayer.
When I start to be anxious about current circumstances and specific family circumstances, I am reminded: “Be anxious for nothing, …” (Phil. 4:6a, NKJV)
God knew what circumstances we would be facing this year individually and corporately in our homes, neighborhoods and nations. It’s interesting that God led us to write on the topic of our inheritance in Christ this year for Christian Writers Circle.
God has prepared a lovely inheritance for us indeed!
Once we are born again into God’s Kingdom, we are placed in a position to experience the amazing promises announced in His Word, including aspects of our great inheritance.
Jesus, in obedience to His heavenly Father, taught His disciples and us to pray….“Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” When we pray these words, let’s do so in faith without wavering. It is possible to experience God’s Kingdom on earth even now, in the midst of this pandemic.
When we meditate on our inheritance in Christ, we have victory over fear and anxiety. We can experience great peace even when facing unpleasant circumstances beyond our control. We do so by keeping our eyes focused on Jesus.
Our inheritance in God’s Kingdom is lovely. Jesus is our portion and the way prepared by our loving heavenly Father.
Let’s focus on these truths today.
Prayers of David to pray as we meditate on what is lovely:
O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance. (Psalm 16: 5-6, NKJV)
I cried out to You, O LORD: I said, You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living. … (Psalm 142: 5, NKJV)
In the comment section below, please share aspects of our lovely inheritance you have experienced recently. Let’s encourage each other.
Amen!
