Nations as your Inheritance

Psalm 2:8 NLT Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession.

Have you asked the LORD for the nations as your inheritance?

People represent nations. Nations are not only about locations on a map. It is about people groups who live in locations and need to know the Savior of the world. Some people are called to reach unreached people groups. The great commission calls us to go into all the world and make disciples of men. (Matt.28:19-20)

Do you know God’s calling in your life?

For me, it is to raise up as a mother in our nation. I remember the day Judges 5:7 seemed to leap off the page in my daily Bible reading about Deborah raising up a mother in Israel. I asked, ”Lord, how do You want me to raise up as a mother?” That day I received a phone call from a young mother. She asked if I would consider caring for her one year old son when she returned to work part time.

Like puzzle pieces being fit in place for a whole picture, I see God spoke to me through His word and circumstances to know His will and His calling for my life. One way is to raise up as a mother and fulfill the great commission sharing Jesus one person at a time, seeing each person as representing a nation.

Recently reading  Jeremiah Chapter 1, my heart was struck through the whole chapter, especially verse 10, “See, I have appointed you this day over the nations and over the kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”

As the LORD spoke to Jeremiah and appointed him to a work over the nations, He speaks to us and appoints us to a work. He will instruct us and teach us in the way we should go; He will guide us by His eye, Psalm 32:8.

The words in Psalm 2 and Jeremiah 1 seem to be words for us today as we see nations in an uproar. We need to know our part with the Lord in our nation and nations of the world.

Prayer: Come, Holy Spirit, with revelation and understanding for us as children of God to ask for the nations as our inheritance. Help us live in the light of it to give glory to our Lord and God, Jesus Christ. Amen.
