Superior Power Hero
by Brenda D. Flowers
“Look at me, grand-mommy, I’m a superhero and I have superpowers,” announced my five year old grandson as he jumped out of bed wearing his superhero pajamas. Later in the day, I hear my three grandsons describing their Lego creations as “bases” or “kingdoms”, with each “base” protected by an army clothed with super power capability. Scrolling through video and movie options for an afternoon break, many titles catch my grandsons’ attention with their superhero themes. Even in the children’s section of the library, books abound with characters who have super powers.
I challenge you to look and listen for how many times you see or hear the words, super power, this next month.
Recently, I was driving and listening to the radio. I happened to hear a brief news report warning that America may no longer be considered a super power nation because of our dependence upon other nations who are claiming this title.
More than child’s play?
God, what are You saying to us through our personal and national struggles? What do you have to say about super powers?
1 Chronicles 29:11-12 ESV Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.
I believe the circumstances we are facing in our personal lives and in our world are being allowed by sovereign God for greater reasons than what we may fully understand.
There is a Superior Power Hero who reigns and is in control.
Do we fathom the greatness of Jesus’ completed work on the cross and the power that was exhibited there?
Do we realize the powerful gift of the Holy Spirit and His Kingdom life?
Lord, I don’t want to just pretend or play my faith, with one foot in your Kingdom and one foot in this world. I want to be Your Kingdom Ambassador, announcing to the world, “The King of kings and the Lord of lords reigns.”
Your word is going forth…
Yes, we, who trust Your word with our whole hearts, are being granted authority to reign in life. The gift of Your Spirit is full of power to overcome. We are clothed in Your righteousness, Jesus.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for helping us learn to see with our spiritual eyes, maturing our understanding of Your Superior Power. When things seem out of control here on earth, may we remember Your Words of direction and hope. In Your mighty name above all names, Jesus, we pray. Amen
Wonderful article!!!
