Stay Home and Rest

Stay Home and Rest
by Judy Hitson

Isaiah 32:18 NLT My people will live in safety; quietly at home. They will be at rest.

This verse and the following quote of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow caught my eye and captured my heart as a word of the Lord for my life:

“Stay, stay at home, my heart, and rest; Home-keeping hearts are happiest”……….

“My Heart-Christ’s Home” by Robert Boyd Munger came to mind and the saying,
“Home is where the heart is.”

The words of Chuck Pierce, Glory of Zion International, in his November, 2018 letter may have been the spark of the Spirit to write on rest this year. He said, “The LORD came and found a place to rest! He is looking for places to visit this year.”

Consider what the word of God says: John 1:33b NLT ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.” Col. 1:27b “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” May the Lord find a place to rest on us and bless us with His visitations.

What is the Lord saying to you about His call, His mission for your life and how to rest in Him?

You may be called to the market place, to a foreign land, travel as the Lord leads you or stay home.

When I came to know the Lord, I thought He would send me out to speak and preach the Good News of His Kingdom. He called me to raise up as a mother, Judges 5:7. The years go by and I continue learning to stay home and rest in Him with our children,  grandchildren and with all who come to our home. I wrestled with the Lord how to live out the great commission. Now as I rest in Him, He reveals His mission for me is to go into all the world through online Christian writing.

At the beginning of the year I thought I had learned so much to share on rest. As the year comes to a close, realization hits me. Rest is a life-long lesson that will be attained in glory when Home with the Lord in a glorified body. Until then let us be good students of the Holy Spirit to learn more each day to rest in the Lord.

Prayer: Lord help us walk in the light of what You reveal to us that we may rest in You. Amen.
