We are God’s Inheritance

We are God’s Inheritance
by Judy Hitson

Psalm 33:12 NLT What joy for the nation whose God is the LORD, whose people he has chosen as his inheritance.

The LORD is our inheritance, Lam.3:24; Ps.16:5 and as His chosen people, we are His inheritance.

Wow! Think about that for a moment.

This sense of a deep, abiding, love relationship brought to mind, I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine…,Song of Solomon 6:3.

Inheritance is not merely what we have but who we are.

We are the children of God, 1 John 3:1
We are His special possession, 1 Peter 2:9
We are His inheritance, Ps.33:12; Eph.1:18

How then shall we live?

Those words I recall from a Bible study by Francis Schaeffer. Memories flashed before me when I first came to the Lord and received His Spirit. I started to see my need of change. I couldn’t talk like I used to talk. I couldn’t go to some places we used to go.

For example, In the midst of making negative accusations toward our children, the conviction of sin came with a word from the Lord in my thoughts, Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. I would cringe, apologize to the children and seek the Lord. Another example, My husband and I liked to go dancing. One evening we went as far as the door. Loud music with repulsive lyrics could be heard outside. I looked at my husband and said, “I can’t do this anymore.” We left, never to return to that place we once enjoyed. Changes brought challenges to work through in our marriage and family relationships.

2 Cor. 5:17 NKJV Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

How is your relationship with the Lord?

Have you received His Spirit? (John 3)

It is a matter of the heart. If we want to understand inheritance, we first need a living relationship with the living God.  Then we are blessed to receive revelation and understanding.

Prayer: Lord I pray that You will give light to the eyes of our hearts, so that we will understand the hope to which You have called us, what rich glories there are in the inheritance You promised Your people, and how surpassingly great is Your power working in us who trust You…. (Eph. 1:18-19 CJB)

  1. As a daughter of the king, I too made some changes after my salvation experience. God has replaced all the old with a much more blessed newness! He is SO good and He has an eternal inheritance for me! ❤️🙏
