Thank God for Inheritance

Col. 1:12 NLT always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.

Ponder Paul’s Thanksgiving and Prayer in the whole passage of Col. 1: 3-14. It is worth the time, taking to heart this exhortation from the Lord through Paul. Note Col.1: 10 NLT Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.

Do you live in the light as He is in the light?

1 John 1:7NLT  But if we are living in the light as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other,  and the blood of Jesus, his son, cleanses us from all sin.

Think about the high price paid for us to share in God’s inheritance. The reality of this price is seen in Phil.2:7-8 NASB but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bondservant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

A hymn comes to mind regarding the price He paid, “Jesus Paid it All.” Perhaps you can sing the words to this hymn from memory or look it up and savor its words.

If Jesus paid it all, how should it affect us?

Hear Jesus speak this word to you personally, Luke 9:23 NASB And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow Me.

Are you following Jesus in this way?

When we realize God became a man because of His love for mankind, that He would die so we might live, our hearts should overflow with thanksgiving to Him. Jesus was the only acceptable sacrifice for sin.

“Since Christ has accomplished an eternal redemption, we are able to share in an eternal inheritance.”

Prayer: Father in heaven help us live in the light as You are in the light to share in Your inheritance with thanksgiving to You in Jesus name and by Your Spirit who gives us life. Amen.
