His Presence, My Presents
My Inheritance in Jesus
by Brenda D. Flowers
“1 The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, son of David, the son of Abraham: … 17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.”
“20b Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins. 22 So all this was done that might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:
23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, “which is translated, “God with us.”(Matthew 1: 1, 17, 20b-23, NKJV)
When reading the Bible, have you noticed the importance God places on genealogy and on the fulfillment of His promises through individuals’ lives?
On my birthday, I felt God’s nudging to spend time with Him meditating on why I was created and what my purpose is for being alive in this period of history.
As I read God’s Word and prayed, it was like God was giving me presents through deeper revelation.
First and foremost, He spoke to me about the value of life. Each person has been created for great purpose.
Have you ever thought about that?
I realized it is not an accident that I was born in 1953 or that I am living now in 2020, a time of crisis in our country and the world just like it was not an accident that Jesus was born in Bethlehem at the time of Roman rule.
We are not accidents.
Each of our life stories matter far beyond our human understanding.
Still, quiet, breathing, not in a hurry, I felt God’s Presence and realized His presence in my past.
What amazing presents God has given through His presence in my life!
He has presents for you too.
A powerful present I received was the revelation that how I live my life today impacts my inheritance in God’s Kingdom.
As a daughter of the King of kings, I know one purpose is to share the good news of God’s love to all who are in my circle of influence.
Each individual matters in the lineage of Christ and in our own lineage. God’s design for our lives, our redemption, purpose and inheritance in Jesus Christ are amazing treasures to be discovered.
God reveals Truth as we search His Word. Ponder with me the depth, height and width of the amazing presents found in God’s Presence.
Remember we are God’s workmanship. (See Ephesians 2:10)
The presence of the Holy Spirit is God’s gift as a guarantee of our great inheritance. (See 2 Corinthians 5: 5)
